Common Questions When Renting a One-Way Motorbike for a Vietnam Road Trip

1. Why is one-way motorbike rental more expensive than city rentals?
   • Maintenance Costs: Long-distance trips from 700 km to several thousand kilometers across mountains and coastlines require extensive preparation, including replacing parts before they are due.
   • Office Operations: We maintain facilities, staff, and utilities in both pick-up and drop-off locations.
   • Transportation: Costs for moving the bike and your luggage.
   • Higher Risk: Long-distance travel (700+ km) increases risks such as mechanical failures, fines, or police stops.

2. What should I do if the bike breaks down?
   • Stay calm and move the bike to a safe spot.
   • Record a video and describe the issue, then send it along with your location to us.
   • If it’s a minor issue, we’ll guide you through fixing it yourself.
   • If it’s more serious, we’ll help arrange the nearest repair shop or roadside assistance.

3. Why shouldn’t I ride after 6 PM on highways or in the mountains?
   • It gets dark, and oncoming traffic with bright headlights makes it hard to see the road.
   • Many mountain roads lack streetlights and may have fog or slippery surfaces. Some areas have no signal or residents.
   • After 6 PM, most repair shops and stores are closed, making support difficult.
   • You have 10 hours of daylight – there’s no need to ride at night.

4. What should I prepare before starting the trip?
   • Cash: Some areas do not accept bank transfers, and you may face phone issues. Bring 2–4 million VND in cash.
   • Backup power or phone
   • Sunblock, sun/rain gear, and a basic first aid kit
   • Personal documents: ID card, passport, driver’s license (carry originals + copies/photos)
   • Offline or motorbike-specific map to avoid being guided onto expressways
   • Bike check: tires, lights, horn, signals, brakes, and check for oil leaks before departure

5. Why should I contact your team first when something goes wrong?
   • Some mechanics may exaggerate issues to charge you more.
   • Poorly trained repair shops may not fix the issue properly, wasting time.
   • With our guidance, responsibility is clearly managed between you and us.

6. Do not leave valuables, electronics, or food in the transported luggage
   • We use third-party transport services (cars/trucks), but we are a motorbike rental company, not a logistics provider.
   • Important items like passports, ID cards, property papers must be with you – do not entrust them to others.
   • We can’t verify what’s in your bag or if it was damaged/lost before or after it was handed to us.

7. Pick-up and drop-off at our office
   • Due to the nature of long-distance travel, and the fact that some hotels are far from city centers, please come to our office. You’ll test the bike, receive a basic repair tutorial, helmet, map, phone holder, luggage rack, bungee cords, rain bags, etc.
   • If anything is not satisfactory, we will fix it immediately on-site.

8. About vehicle documents
   • To reduce the need for document deposits, we do not provide the original bike registration. However, we’ll give you a rental contract, a copy, and a photo of the original.
   • If you follow traffic laws, especially in central Vietnam, the police are supportive toward tourists, and there should be no issues.
